Redwood City mourns death of legendary Bay Area sportscaster and author, Pete Liebengood

Pete Liebengood, Redwood City resident and retired TV Sportscaster, died Dec. 22. Liebengood worked at KRON, San Francisco and KCRA, Sacramento and enjoyed a long career as a play-by-play contributor for ESPN, covering multiple sports from college basketball to world cup skiing. He authored six novels, including, “Class of ’62,” “Accidental Droning,” and “Honeyball.” Pete is survived by his wife Alicia Aguirre, former Mayor and current City Councilmember of Redwood City.
