San Mateo police arrested a man on suspicion of peeping into an apartment bedroom on private property Tuesday night.
Officers responded to the apartment building in the 800 block of Jefferson Court at about 8:16 p.m. after a resident reported seeing a man peering though her daughter’s bedroom window, police said.
“A motion sensor activated a camera, which alerted the daughter by phone that a man was peeking through her bedroom window,” police said.
When officers arrived on scene, the suspect was still present, having been detained in the backyard by multiple family members.
“Officers observed the suspect had his zipper down and later confirmed the crime via security camera footage, police said.
The suspect, identified as 28-year-old San Mateo resident Jairo Abisai Fuentes, was arrested on suspicion of peeking into an inhabited dwelling.
