A pedestrian safety enforcement operation in North Fair Oaks on Wednesday led to 67 traffic enforcement stops and 63 citations, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
The operation occurred from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Middlefield Road at Dumbarton Avenue, a location chosen “based on complaints from residents, collision data, visual analysis, and deputy and officer knowledge of the area,” the sheriff’s office said.
Of these citations issued, 51 were for failure to yield to a pedestrian within a crosswalk, three were for cell phone related violations and nine were for miscellaneous vehicle and equipment violations.
“Throughout the detail, deputies and officers had the opportunity to educate many drivers and pedestrians regarding safe driving practices,” the sheriff’s office said.
