Redwood City native Joe “Joe Hawk” Ceccotti has been named host of Afternoon Drive for Bay Area classic rock station 107.7 The Bone/KSAN-FM, Cumulus Media announced Thursday. He can be heard Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Ceccotti joined The Bone in 2013 as an intern for the The Lamont & Tonelli Show and has since covered all on-air shifts as a part-time fill-in host.
In 2019, Ceccotti was mentioned in a feature in Climate Magazine about The Lamont & Tonelli Show. The profile noted how Ceccotti had no interest in radio until college at San Jose State University, when a fraternity brother showed him a flyer for the university radio station KSJS looking for DJs. Ceccoti was hired, fell in love with the craft and changed his major to broadcast communications. He got the “Joe Hawk” moniker due to his mohawk haircut.
Ceccotti also hosts a new podcast for The Bone called BONE-A-Fide Brews that shines a light on smaller, up-and-coming breweries popping up around the Bay Area, according to Cumulus.
“Joe has been a very important part of KSAN for the last eight years and has proved his worth time and time again with his diligent work ethic behind the scenes, as well as his great on-air performance,” said Chasta Michaelis, program director for 107.7 The Bone. “He is a true asset for us and I’m thrilled to be able to make him our full-time Afternoon Host.”
Ceccotti expressed excitement to host the evening commute “for such a legendary station.”
“Becoming a Bone jock and to be associated with such names, past and present, as Lamont & Tonelli, Steven Seaweed, Nikki Black, Baby Huey and Chasta is more than I could’ve ever hoped for,” he said.
