in Crime

One of three suspects linked to eight catalytic converter thefts in Redwood City on March 21 appeared to be armed with an AK 47 style assault weapon, prompting police to urge the public to use caution when observing a catalytic converter theft in progress.

The eight reported thefts occurred on March 21. One of the thefts was captured on private security video obtained from a resident, police said.

The suspects were driving a dark colored 2010 or later model Audi with stock, 5-spoke colored wheels.

Other recent converter thefts have been reported in the Bay Area involving armed suspects. In light of that, residents are urged to use caution when observing a catalytic converter theft in progress, police said. Contact police and do not take action that would endanger yourself or others.

If you have any information regarding these suspect, contact Detective Sergeant Mark Alifano at (650) 780-7673, or call the Tip Line at (650) 780-7110.
