Redwood City firefighter’s funeral to impact traffic, parking

in Community

A funeral for retired Redwood City firefighter Jeff Timms will cause some traffic and parking disruption in the city today, according to the Redwood City Fire Department.

The funeral service will take place from noon to 5 p.m. at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel at 400 Woodside Road, with an escort guided by fire and police vehicles from Sunnyvale to Redwood City between 10 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

The escort will impact traffic on northbound Highway 280 and Woodside Road at Hess Road.

Also, the right turn lane on Woodside Road at Hess Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with vehicles able to turn right onto Hess from the right-hand lane of Woodside Road.

Parking at the Community Activities Building will be used as parking overflow for funeral attendees, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., leading to limited public parking.

Finally, various shuttles will be transporting funeral attendees to and from the funeral services at Crippen & Flynn, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and the public may experience increased traffic as a result on Woodside Road, Hudson Street, Oak Avenue, Roosevelt Ave, Sanchez Way, and Hess Road.
