Redwood City police invite students to 1st Annual Youth Academy

The Redwood City Police Department is inviting city residents ages 14 to 17 to take part in its 1st annual Youth Academy.

The Academy is a three-day course has two central purposes: to help students understand how a police department works, and to increase interaction between law enforcement and youth in the community.

Students taking part in the Academy will see a K9 demo and learn more about special ops, patrol techniques, use of force, criminal investigations, job skill training, community outreach and crime scene investigation.

The Academy will run from July 16- 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To join the program, students must submit an application to the Redwood City Police Department.
