Two heavyweights in the world of science fiction — Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, and Hugo Award-winning illustrator John Picacio — are scheduled to take part in a conversation at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City on Aug. 14.

The event from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. is a benefit for the Locus Science Fiction Foundation, the long-standing journal of record for the science fiction and fantasy fields.

“Friends, colleagues, and co-conspirators Martin and Picacio will delve into a discussion on literature, art, and life in this intimate and historic theater setting, followed by a Q&A session with the audience,” organizers said.

Meanwhile, Borderlands Books will sell books on site, including a limited number of signed books. Martin will not be available to sign copies of attendees’ books.
