Two killed in Woodside collision

Two people were killed in a crash involving two vehicles in Woodside Sunday night, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

The collision occurred just before midnight on Portola Road near Old La Honda Road.

Leticia De Silva Diokno, 68, of South San Francisco, died at the scene while Anna Maria Helm, 47, of Clovis, died at the hospital from her injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

  1. You say “the cause of the accident is under investigation.” This is inaccurate. An accident is an incident without cause or is unexpected. If the crash is still being investigated, we have no idea as to the cause. Thus, better to use the neutral term “crash.” Crash is also better since, unlike accident, it doesn’t absolve the driver(s) of responsibility. In reality, 90% of crashes are due to driver error. Only when we get real about the causes of traffic violence will we be able to prevent the tens of thousands of deaths that occur each year in the U.S.
