Skyline College free food distribution site to open

in Community

Skyline College is launching a free grocery distribution service starting Wednesday available to students and the community.

The drive-thru community market will be held every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the college at 3300 College Drive in San Bruno (use the Skyline Boulevard entrance).

In April, the San Mateo County Community College District partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank of Silicon Valley to launch an emergency grocery distribution site at the College of San Mateo every Friday. Consistent growth and success at that location led to a new site being established at Skyline College.

SparkPoint, public safety, and facilities staff is working with volunteers from Skyline College, the college district and local community to distribute pre-boxed groceries while adhering to all COVID-19 protocols. No ID is required to pick up food. Questions can be submitted to skylinesparkpoint@smccd.edu.

In March, the pandemic forced the Skyline College free Community Market and SparkPoint Food Pantry to close.
