Free drive-in movies coming to Redwood City port

in A&E

Free drive-in movies are set to be featured at Redwood City’s port on Fridays and Saturdays for the remaining three weekends of this month. All that is needed is your vehicle, an online reservation and an FM radio tuner.

Two features will run Friday and Saturday evenings, one at 6 p.m. and another at 8:30 p.m. from September 11-26, at the port, 675 Seaport Blvd. You will need separate reservations for each feature. Movies include The Little Mermaid, Hidden Figures, Moana, School of Rock and both Frozen 1 and 2. See the flyer below for the movie schedule.

There will be contactless check-ins, safe physical distance between vehicles, limited capacity, frequent cleaning and sanitation of restrooms and personal protective equipment for all event staff, according to Redwood City Events. No convertible or doorless vehicles are allowed, nor is sitting outside your vehicle or in a truck bed. Masks are mandatory when exiting your vehicle to use the restrooms.

“This is a 100 percent contact free event, so all reservations will be done online prior to visiting,” the city said. “You may not enter without a reservation. There will be no food concessions, but you are free to bring your own.”

This drive-in movie experience is due to a partnership with the Port of Redwood City and sponsorship from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, Facebook, San Mateo Credit Union and 707 Leahy Apartments.
