Arrest made in shooting on Laurel St. in San Carlos

A 36-year-old man was arrested on charges of firing a gunshot that narrowly missed a person during a dispute in San Carlos on Monday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Laurel Street at 5:43 p.m. According to the sheriff’s office, the victim went to the suspect’s apartment to confront two residents regarding a past dispute. During the argument, the suspect, identified as Rudy Sanchez, 36, allegedly pointed a handgun at the victim and fired. The uninjured victim fled the scene but was later located by deputies.

Sanchez was arrested without incident and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, discharge of a firearm with gross negligence and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
