6 arrested for June shooting in San Mateo

Six alleged gang members were arrested today in connection with a June shooting outside of an apartment in San Mateo, police said.

A 16-year-old suffered minor injuries after multiple shots were fired in the 400 block of Rogell Court on June 25, at about 7:44 p.m.

“Officers learned the shooting was an isolated incident connected to an ongoing gang-on-gang dispute and not a random attack,” police said.

The investigation led police to arrest three residents of Redwood City, two from San Mateo and one from South San Francisco.

Christian Escobar, 28, of Redwood City was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted robbery; Ramon Alberto Camacho, 25, of South San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, being a driver permitting others to discharge a firearm from their vehicle, committing crime in furtherance of the gang and evading peace officer; Luis Maciel, 21, of Redwood City, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, vandalism over $400 and committing crime in furtherance of the gang; Jesus Juarez, 18, of San Mateo, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, vandalism over $400 and committing crime in furtherance of the gang; Jonathan Mendoza, 18, of Redwood City was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery, vandalism over $400 and committing crime in furtherance of the gang; and a 16-year-old San Mateo resident, whose identity is not being released due to his age, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
