A 55-year-old San Mateo man died after losing control while riding his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 101 near Millbrae Avenue Thursday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP responded to the southbound crash scene just before 9:30 p.m. and learned the rider of a Harley Davidson motorcycle had “failed to negotiate a sweeping right curve, subsequently causing the Harley Davidson to collide head-on with a concrete k-rail.”
“The collision caused the rider to be ejected from the Harley Davidson and land on the westbound Millbrae Avenue on-ramp to US-101 southbound,” CHP Public Information Office Art Montiel said.
The rider was transported San Francisco General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, Montiel said.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in this collision.
The rider has not been identified.
