in Crime

A 42-year-old man was arrested Friday on suspicion of draining an elderly San Carlos woman’s bank account, stealing her jewelry and vehicles and even attempting to sell her home.

In August, San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies and detectives began investigating Paul Jason Kendrick after he befriended the elderly victim who resides on Pyrola Lane.

“Over a period of several months, Kendrick stole the victim’s jewelry, vehicles, drained bank accounts, and attempted to sell the victim’s home,” the sheriff’s office said. “As the investigation was getting started, Kendrick left the residence and his whereabouts was unknown.”

On Friday, a concerned neighbor reported seeing Kendrick back at the victim’s residents. Deputies responded, located Kendrick and took him into custody. He was booked into jail on grant theft charges and additional charges are anticipated as the investigation continues, deputies said.
