San Mateo County eateries, breweries and wineries can now apply for relief grants

in Community/Food

From now through March 8, eligible San Mateo County restaurants, breweries and wineries can apply for up to $10,000 in grants to help pay employees, rent, for health and safety modifications and other needs caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To apply, visit the San Mateo County Strong Fund website here. The portal will remain open for two weeks and business owners must apply at any point between now and Monday, March 8. Grants will be reviewed after March 8 and will be awarded based on a lottery system with funding allocated to cities based on population.

The Restaurant, Brewery and Winery Relief Program was established in January thanks to a $1 million pledge from the County’s Board of Supervisors along with $1 million in matching funds from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Funding from the San Mateo Strong Fund, a partnership among County and community-based organizations to provide targeted financial relief for individuals and sectors of the economy hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, are also available as well as additional donations from businesses, foundations and community members.
