A person was shot in the arm while in a homeless encampment in Redwood City Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Buckeye Street on a report of multiple gunshots heard in the area about 10:55 p.m., according to the Redwood City Police Department.

No victims were found in that area but officers were soon dispatched to the Target at 2485 El Camino Real on a report of a male with a gunshot wound to his arm, police said. The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

Police would learn that an unknown suspect fired multiple shots into a homeless encampment located on Shasta street underneath Woodside Road.

“Fourteen 9mm spent casings were located and collected at the scene,” police said.
