Low-income pet owners or those suffering financial hardship in San Mateo County can register to receive pet food and litter from the Food Bank at no cost.
The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA created a Pet Food Bank to assist struggling pet owners. The donor-funded Pet Food Bank occurs on the second Friday of each month. “Income verification is not necessary, but advance registration for the Pet Food Bank is required,” officials said.
Applicants must be a resident of San Mateo County who is experiencing financial hardship; agree to use the food bank for personal companion animals in need; understand that food is donated, and thus the same brand or type of pet food cannot be guaranteed each month; and enroll no more than four pets per household.
