Lobiss Parks, 66, was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with a fire in the area of an apartment carport in San Carlos on Sunday, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a structure fire on Portofino Drive at around 6 p.m. While the fire was no longer active when they arrived, deputies discovered signs of fresh fire damage around an apartment carport, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies conducted witness interviews and obtained surveillance footage identifying Parks as the person who set the fires.
While Parks and the vehicle he was driving had already fled the scene, deputies located him and took him into custody within hours of the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone with information about the crime to call 650-363-4911 or contact office’s anonymous tip line at 1-800-547-2700.
