Hillsdale Shopping Center will turn back time 65 million years when it hosts “Jurassic Weekend” Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11-12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on its North Block Outdoor Plaza.
As part of the pre-historic spectacle, encounters with realistic dinosaur puppets will occur at designated times.
Jurassic Weekend visitors will have the chance to “learn about the different dinosaurs found in North America, geological time periods, how dinosaurs adapted to their environments and scientific research methods,” organizers said.
Dino Encounter shows will take place for 40 minutes on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Sunday at noon and 2 p.m. Designed with kids of all ages and audience participation in mind, the shows will afford visitors the opportunity to interact with life-size, realistic dinosaur puppets, pose for photo ops and experience simulated excavation digs.
The Hillsdale Shopping Center is located at 60 31st Ave. in San Mateo; the Jurassic Weekend takes place on the North Block Plaza. The shopping destination also plays home to anchors Nordstrom, Macy’s and Cinepolis Luxury Cinemas, as well as 120 specialty shops, numerous restaurants and an active entertainment scene.
