A 24-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence in a three-car collision in San Mateo on Sunday that killed a passenger in her vehicle, police said.
Just after 5 p.m., Tuuika Salt, a San Mateo resident, was arrested on charges of vehicle manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence causing great bodily injury in connection with the crash that occurred near the intersection of E. Santa Inez Aveue and N. Humboldt Street, police said.
A passenger in the suspect’s vehicle was transported to a local trauma center and succumbed to her injuries the following day.
“Standardized field sobriety tests were conducted on scene and a preliminary alcohol screening device indicated the driver’s blood alcohol content was more than two and a half times the legal limit,” police said. “The driver was arrested and booked at San Mateo County Jail.”
