San Mateo County Event Center’s first pediatric clinic to be ‘playland themed’

in Community

San Mateo County’s first vaccination clinic for children ages 5 to 11, set to open this Saturday, will have a “playland theme” featuring superheroes, Pac-Man, a red carpet and more at the San Mateo County Event Center.

Kids coming to the clinic “will be met by a variety of colorful, age-appropriate themes including Legoland, Candy Land, Superheroes and Roblox,” the County said. “Pac-Man and a red carpet provide a warm welcome to the site while inside bright walls and privacy barriers make the space more inviting. Televisions and life-size games of chess and Connect Four will also help children feel at ease while waiting for their shot and during the 15-minute observation period.”

The appointment-only clinic (schedule via MyTurn) will open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 13, and also Wednesday, Nov. 10 through Friday, Nov. 13, from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Those making appointments should search by the Event Center address (1346 Saratoga Drive, San Mateo) and choose “SMC Health- Event Center- Pediatric (5-11 yrs old).”

Along with the Event Center clinic, pediatric vaccines will also be available from health care providers (Kaiser, Sutter, PAMF, Stanford) and local pharmacies such as CVS and Walgreens. Also, County Health is partnering with San Mateo County Office of Education and school districts to support school-based vaccination clinics during the week of Nov. 15.
