Public safety agencies launch Holiday Toy and Book Drive

in A&E/Community

The City of Redwood City’s Fire and Police Departments and other public safety agencies are sounding the seasonal cheer alarm for their Annual Holiday Toy and Book Drive. The annual drive welcomes families in need with children under 12 years old to register to receive toys, as well as support from those wishing to donate.

Families interested in participating in the drive can apply now through Nov. 19 via the online application here; anyone needing help filling out the application can call 650-780-7500. Those already registered for another Holiday Toy Program are asked by organizers to refrain from registering for this one.

The big boss himself—Santa Claus—will be distributing toys via contactless delivery, however pick-up can also be coordinated. Complete details will be forthcoming upon successful enrollment, per organizers.

Community members wanting to support the Holiday Toy and Book Drive via a donation have a variety of options. Toy/book collection barrels are available for local businesses as are corporate sponsorships; people can deposit a new toy/book into one of the drive’s collection barrels at all Redwood City Fire Stations, the Redwood City Police Department, Fair Oaks Community Center and other spots; or community members can give a monetary donation. Click here to donate to the drive or for more info.

In 2020, the Holiday Toy and Book Drive helped more than 500 families in need through more than 60 donation barrels at local businesses and more than 12,000 toys.
