Buy a tree, gift a tree. It’s a simple gesture local community members can make to bring seasonal cheer to low-income families unable to buy a Christmas tree. Those shopping for their Christmas trees at Honey Bear Trees in San Carlos or Redwood City this holiday season can tell the staff they’d like to gift a tree to a family in need and the cost of that tree will be added to their bill.
It’s all part of a partnership between the Christmas tree purveyor and Neighbors Helping Neighbors – San Mateo County (SF Bay Area) and One Life Counseling Center, which are partnering to provide trees to local families. Low-income families from East Palo Alto to Burlingame will benefit from the donated trees.
“If you have a little extra this holiday season, we are trying to buy trees…for our local families in need,” stated a representative from the organization on Facebook.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors started as a volunteer group looking to help people in need during the pandemic, per its social media. They’ve now expanded to also support Bay Area community-based organizations/nonprofits and impact projects.
Honey Bear Trees is located at 955 Woodside Rd. in Redwood City and 1579 El Camino Real in San Carlos. Both locations are open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Learn more about Honey Bear Trees here and Neighbors Helping Neighbors San Mateo County here.
