Man arrested for assaulting and seriously injuring female victim in North Fair Oaks

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of physically assaulting a female victim in North Fair Oaks Wednesday morning, causing serious injury, before stealing a car and fleeing the area, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded just before 11 a.m. to the 2900 block of Crocker Avenue on a report of a physical altercation. Due to the severity of the crime, detectives took on the case. On Thursday at 12:44 a.m., California Highway Patrol officers contacted the suspect, identified as Sergio Hernandez-Dominguez of Redwood City, during a traffic stop in Monterey, deputies said.

Hernandez-Dominguez was later booked into San Mateo County jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, carjacking, criminal threats, robbery, domestic battery and kidnapping, the Sheriff’s Office said.
