The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a window-smash burglary at Society Skateshop in San Carlos early last Friday.

Deputies responded to the retail store at 625 Laurel St. at 3:24 a.m. for an alarm and arrived within three minutes to find three windows shattered in the front of the business, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The owner was notified, quickly responded to the scene and provided deputies with access to the shop. The business was searched, and no suspects were located inside the business or in the surrounding area, deputies said.

“Initial inventory revealed a backpack valued at $65 was taken,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “This investigation is ongoing to determine the type and value of any additional items stolen, to locate witnesses, evidence and surveillance video in the area.”
