Hillsborough police seek help in identifying burglary suspects

Hillsborough police have released images of suspects who burglarized a home in the area of Eugenia Way and Butternut drive something Friday night or early Saturday. The suspects are believed to be connected to other burglaries in Hillsborough and beyond, police said.

Police have been on heightened alert about a recent spike in residential burglaries caused by “criminal tourism” targeting affluent communities. Such crimes involve thieves who come from outside the U.S.

Climate reported on this trend last month.

During the burglary this past Friday/Saturday, the resident’s SUV was stolen from the garage. The vehicle was later recovered by Hillsborough police.

Police have released images of the suspects from home security cameras and also  images of a vehicle associated with the suspects — a 2018 or newer Honda Civic.

Investigators are working with federal agencies and law enforcement in Southern California in the ongoing investigation.
