More California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers will be deployed on State Route 1 and unincorporated San Mateo County roadways this weekend, with a particular eye on reducing the number of motorcycle incidents.
The CHP will look for violations by both motorcyles and other drivers including unsafe speed, following too closely, unsafe lane changes and improper turning, and other violations by both motorcyclists and other drivers.
“To assist the CHP in this traffic safety effort, the Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, has awarded a grant titled ‘Get Educated and Ride Safe IV,'” the CHP said. “With the grant-funding, the Redwood City Area will continue to deploy additional enforcement efforts through September 30, 2022.”
