San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault joined members of the County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday for a ribbong cutting ceremony to celebrate the new state-of-the-art Coroner’s Office and Pathology Suite.

The new facility, located next to the Public Health Lab at the San Mateo Medical Center, includes an isolation autopsy suite featuring a refridgerator/freezer that is designed to handle homicide and biohazardous cases; a whole-body forensic imaging system, Lodox eXero-dr, which presents a comprehensive clinical picture that reduces guesswork and offers peace of mind while guiding cause-of-death determination; and a viewing room for law enforcement attendance at forensic postmortem reviews, according to the County.

The facility will “assist in homicide cases and help guide cause-of-death determinations,” County officials added.
