All 10 students and their teacher in the Hoover Community School’s K-2 Special Day Class in Redwood City received an iPad mini, a protective case and other classroom technology thanks to a nonprofit launched by parents of a special needs student, according to the Redwood City School District.
Veteran teacher Jacklyn Moore’s classroom also received a color printer, bigger monitors, and other equipment aimed at enhancing learning, according to the district.
Autism: Yesterday and Today funded the donation. Each year since 2014, the nonprofit has selected a special education class to provide with technology. Donations were previously made to public schools in Fremont, Hayward, San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco.
On Facebook, the school posted photos with the new technology and thanked the nonprofit.
“The iPads and technology equipment donated will make a positive impact in knowledge acquisition and curiosity for our students,” it said. “A big Husky thanks!”
