The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) announced an additional $1.3 million in grants to support individuals and families during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The funds will assist programs and organizations supporting efforts in health care, direct services and education, including $200,000 to strengthen learning in the Redwood City School District. Grants will also fund more than 1,350 WiFi hotspots to the San Mateo County Office of Education, local school districts and schools for the 2020-2021 academic school year.
In addition, $500,000 will go to the Mission Asset Fund for the San Mateo County Immigrant Relief Fund supporting low-income immigrant families impacted by COVID-19 and the lockdowns and who are ineligible for federal funds; $250,000 will go to the San Francisco Latino Task Force to support a “test to community care” model for testing, and an aftercare community wellness team for the Latinx community; $250,000 will go to the Rafiki Coalition for Health & Wellness to support COVID-19 testing, tracing and health services for Black and African American communities in San Francisco; $50,000 will go to Chinese Hospital in San Francisco to support their pandemic response efforts and another $50,000 will go to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Childcare Project supporting private childcare providers.
