The City of San Mateo has made it easier to get in the holiday spirit with the unveiling of “Brighten Up San Mateo,” an interactive map that highlights the festively decorated homes of residents who’ve registered. Registering for the map helps create a driving route from which community members can enjoy seasonal decorations from the safety of their vehicles during the holidays.
“While our lives are looking different this year, you can help keep spirits bright by sprucing up your home for others to enjoy from a distance,” stated the City of San Mateo on its website.
Residents that would like to have their decorated homes added to the map, should click here and decide which category they’d like to sign-up in: Front Yard/Exterior Decorations; Front Door Holiday Decorations; or Interior Holiday Decorations. Then, complete the registration form and submit it by the Wed., Dec. 16 deadline to Brandon at bparra@cityofsanmateo.org. Community members can also view the interactive map via the registration page.
Locals can follow the City on Facebook or Instagram to check out the staff faves, as well as other holiday home decoration photos that residents have shared. To share photos of your festively decked out residence, be sure to include #smparksandrec in your post and tag the City at @smparksandrec.
