Three new WiFi-connected parking lots have opened, including two in Redwood City, and a fourth will go live at Pescadero High School by the end of year, as San Mateo County expands its SMC Public WiFi network.
The program allows the public to walk, ride, or drive to selected parking lots and connect to the internet at no cost.
Currently open for WiFi use are the parking lots at the SportsHouse sports complex at 3151 Edison Way; at Hoover Elementary School at 701 Charter St. in Redwood City; and at East Palo Alto City Hall at 2415 University Ave.
“This initiative could not have come at a better time,” said Redwood City School District Superintendent Dr. John Baker. “All of our students currently have the need to connect with their teachers online. The SMC Public WiFi Park and Connect sites create a new way for students and their families to access the internet. We appreciate the County’s support of our students and their learning.”
SportsHouse Operations Director Brian Wood said the company loves operating in North Fair Oaks and glad to help the community “in any way we can.”
