A 27-year-old father was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence Wednesday night after colliding into a parked car while his child was in his vehicle, police said.
Jose Monzon Martinez, a San Mateo resident, was arrested at 10:53 p.m. following the collision and after he failed subsequent field sobriety tests near S. Fremont Street and Cypress Avenue, police said.
“A preliminary alcohol screening device indicated the driver’s blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit,” police said. “The driver was arrested and booked at San Mateo County Jail. His child was released to a trusted family member.”
Along with DUI charges, Martinez was also booked f0r child endangerment, police said.
