San Carlos City Council is set to decide on whether to approve a contract with Marina Landscape, Inc. to move forward with significant upgrades to Chilton Park.
Following a community engagement process that began in July 2018, a Chilton Park Master Planwas developed that includes constructing improved pathways, a stair entrance from Bayview Drive, a gathering area near the rock outcrop, a small tot play area, a drinking fountain, new plantings, and an interpretive sign, according to city documents.
“Keeping the nature feel of the park space is also desired for the park,” the city said.
In 2019, the plans, estimated to cost about $400,000 in Prop. 68 park improvement funds, were approved by the Parks, Recreation and Culture Commission and City Council. The city requested bids in the last month and selected Marina Landscape, Inc. of Orange County, which provided the lowest bid, as the preferred contractor. Once the contractor gets the go-ahead to start work, it will have 150 calendar days to complete the project, with every day beyond that time limit incurring a $500 penalty to the contractor, city documents state.
The San Carlos Council meeting is set to be held virtually on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. To view the full agenda and supporting documents, go here.
