An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a truck while riding a bike in Pescadero on Thursday was gifted a new helmet and bike by the Cal Fire crew who came to his aid.
The CAL FIRE CZU San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit personnel said the boy was riding the bike in front of his home on Pescadero Creek Road near North Street when he was struck by a truck, which thankfully caused minor injuries. The child was treated at Stanford Hospital and released, and his bike and helmet were damaged during the accident.
“The Station 59 crew was moved by how he conducted himself and handled the situation,” Cal Fire said, so they surprised him with a new bike and helmet “so he could start riding again as soon as he is up to it.”
