A Menlo Park man was found guilty Monday of 15 of 19 counts related to lewd acts with multiple minors over a nearly 30-year period, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office.
Randolph “Randy” Haldeman, 60, who prosecutors say had befriended the children and their families at the Ladera Recreation Center, where he was involved in photography for about 20 years, and via the Big Brother program, was convicted on charges that include oral copulation by use of drugs, child molestation, forcible lewd acts with a child and felony contact with a child for a lewd act.
The crimes reportedly occurred at his home, as well as the Ladera Recreation Center and St. Denis Church in Menlo Park, according to prosecutors.
Haldeman was arrested in July 2019 after one of the victims came forward, sparking a San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office investigation that uncovered additional victims.
Haldeman potentially faces life in prison when he sentenced on Aug. 11. He remains in custody.
