A multi-agency search for a man who went missing at Tunitas Creek Beach early today was not successful, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 5 a.m., Coastside Patrol Bureau deputies responded to the beach on a report of a man who was in the water and distressed. Deputies spoke with one of the man’s friends. The missing man, identified as Florentino Suan Pasco Jr, wandered off at about 4 a.m. while they were on the beach and he did not return, the friend told deputies.
“The friends were unable to locate Florentino and believed he went into the water,” deputies said.
Pasco Jr., described as a transient from Stockton, was not found after what the sheriff’s office described as an exhaustive search that involved a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter, Harbor Patrol rescue vessel and sheriff’s office drone.
