Downtown Redwood City sidewalks are set to become chalk art masterpieces this weekend.
The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation is hosting Chalk Full of Fun‘s first chalk art walk in downtown Redwood City this Saturday and Sunday, during which 12 professional artists and 60 non-professional groups will create chalk art along a half-mile stretch of sidewalk between Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway St., and the Main Library, 1044 Middlefield Rd.
The community is invited to watch as the artists go to work from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from dawn until dusk Sunday.
“We hope many people will come downtown to take advantage of this unique opportunity to watch many artists at work on July 3 and see the final chalk art creations on July 4,” says Lisa Duncan, Chalk Full of Fun Coordinator.
As part of the event, free chalk kits were distributed to over 500 families to make chalk art creations at home. Photos of the chalk creations can be submitted to a contest for a chance to win prizes.
