An 18-year-old man was arrested on gun possession charges at a Redwood City hotel on Sunday, police said.
Police responded to the Courtyard Marriott at 600 Bair Island Road at about 12:15 a.m. on a report of a person with a gun on the third floor of the hotel. Officers established a perimeter and staged an arrest team in the lobby near the hotel elevators, police said.
Viliami Tovo, 18, was subsequently detained in the lobby as he exited an elevator. A loaded, unregistered 9 mm semi-automatic pistol was concealed in his waistband at the time, police said.
He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County jail for several gun-related offenses.
