A new permanent basketball court is being installed at Red Morton Park following a successful pilot program that brought a temporary hoop to the park.
Construction of the permanent court was set to begin today and take about two weeks, according to Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Service.
A Parks, Recreation, Community Services Needs & Assessment reported back in 2019 a community desire for additional opportunities for outdoor basketball.
Last year, the city installed a temporary half-court that has been getting a lot of use, so now it’s moving forward with a permanent court at the site of the temporary hoop.
As part of the project, the city is also building a new practice wall for tennis next to the basketball court.
