Redwood City officials will celebrate a ribbon-cutting Wednesday, Nov. 10 for the long-planned U.S. Highway 101 Pedestrian Undercrossing, which connects the bike path along Bair Island Road with the bike lanes on Main Street beneath the freeway and adjacent to Redwood Creek.
The ceremony for the 14-foot wide path is set to take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the new undercrossing.
The path aims to satisfy increased demand for pedestrian and bicycle connections to and from the bayfront area east of 101, where housing development over the last decade has attracted new residents, according to the city.
