The Year of the Tiger was welcomed in vibrant, energetic fashion at Hillsdale Shopping Center on Saturday, when Lion Dancers in dragon-like costumes performed traditional dances to the rythm of beating drums.
The San Mateo shopping center hosted its 2022 Lunar New Year celebration starting at 1 p.m., providing the first 500 shoppers with lucky red envelopes symbolyizing energy, happiness and good wishes. Attendees were encouraged to post new year’s wishes on a Selfie Wishing Wall and launch a wishing lantern on the fountain in the North Block of the shopping center.
Chinese New Year 2022 falls on Tuesday, Feb. 1, with up to 16 days of celebrations culminating with the Lantern Festival on Feb. 15.
