With Redwood City police Chief Dan Mullholland set to retire in May, City Manager Melissa Stevenson Diaz is seeking community input on who to hire as the city’s next police chief.
Community members can provide feedback at a community meeting set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 4 at City Hall Council Chambers, 1017 Middlfield Road. Advanced registration is requested but not required.
Also, community members can provide feedback at a booth at Courthouse Square, 2200 Broadway, on Feb. 4, during the 12thAnnual Lunar New Year Celebration from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
In addition, community members can fill out a survey online or on paper by visiting any city facility, including the Downtown Library (1044 Middlefield Road), Schaberg Branch Library (2140 Euclid Avenue), Redwood Shores Branch Library (399 Marine Parkway), Veterans Memorial Senior Center (1455 Madison Avenue), Community Activities Building (1400 Roosevelt Avenue), and Fair Oaks Community Center (2600 Middlefield Road). The survey is available in both English and Spanish.
The city has retained recruiting firm Teri Black and Company to search for the city’s next police chief. The city hopes to announce the new chief in May.
“The police chief is a critical leadership role for our community, shaping public safety services in Redwood City,” said Diaz. “I am very interested in hearing community perspectives on the qualities needed in the next Police Chief.
