Deputies responded to the home in the 500 block of Sequoia Avenue just after 5 a.m. on a report of a stabbing. They learned Cheong entered the home and violently attacked three of the residents, including women ages 20 and 54 and also a 65-year-old man, officials said.

One of the victims died, and during the altercation Cheong was also stabbed fatally. The other two victims were transported to a local hospital, where they are being treated, the sheriff’s office said.

Cheong was a former acquaintance of one of the victims, deputies learned, and the motive is being investigated.
