San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies are searching for the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred at Alquimia Medical Spa in San Carlos early Tuesday.

Deputies responded to 1313 Laurel St., near Howard Avenue, just after midnight and learned a 34-year-old man had been approached by the suspect in the rear of the spa business, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect grabbed the victim by the neck and snatched his gold ring, Apple watch, and wallet. The suspect then placed a firearm to the victim’s lower back and warned him not to call police or he would return to harm him, deputies said.

The suspect then fled on foot southbound on Laurel Street and the victim called authorities, but responding deputies did not find the suspect after a search of the area.

The victim was uninjured as a result of the crime.

The suspect was described as a 40-year-old male, approximately 5-11, 140 pounds, wearing a black baseball cap, a green Covid-19 style face mask, a black sweater, blue jeans, and black shoes.

“The investigation is on-going to locate any potential witnesses or security video that may assist in identifying the suspect,” the sheriff’s office said.
