Free drive-in movies return to Port of Redwood City

in A&E

Drive-in movies at the Port of Redwood City are returning for three weekends in December, starting Saturday, Dec. 5.

Tickets are free but must be reserved online, with ticket reservation opening at noon on Thursdays.

All three weekends will feature popular holiday movies, including A Christmas Story (Dec. 5); National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (Friday, Dec. 11); Muppets Christmas Carol (Saturday, Dec. 12); The Santa Claus (Friday, Dec. 18); and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (Saturday, Dec. 19). Show times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. nightly except for the Saturday, Dec. 19 shows, which are 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Drive-in movies began being held at the Port of Redwood City due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. They have been a popular attraction, but took a hiatus in recent months to allow for the drive-in Zoppe Circus to make its successful run.

To enjoy the drive-in movie,  all you need is a vehicle, a reservation, and an FM radio tuner.

Tickets must be reserved online. There is contactless check-in, safe physical distance between vehicles, limited capacity, frequent cleaning and sanitation of ADA portable restrooms, and all event staff wear PPE as required.
