SMPD investigate hit-and-run collision that injured bicyclist

UPDATE: San Mateo police say the suspect in this incident has turned himself into police and the case is being forwarded to the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office for review of prosecution.

A 68-year-old bicyclist was in critical but stable condition at a local trauma center Friday after being struck by a vehicle that fled following the collision, police said.

San Mateo police responded to the area of Tilton Avenue and N. Humboldt Street about 9:33 a.m. on a report that the bicyclist, a San Mateo man, had been struck. The man was transported to a local trauma center, police said.

San Mateo police traffic officers responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, and they’re seeking the public’s help in locating the driver involved.
