Caltrain cancels MLK Jr. Celebration Train due to COVID-19

Caltrain has cancelled its annual Celebration Train that runs on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Every year on this holiday, the Celebration Train, which pays tribute to the 54-mile 1965 Selma to Montgomery March, delivers celebrants to the traditional march in San Francisco.

“Caltrain hopes to hold the event again next year, provided it can be done safely and responsibly,” the transit agency said.

Caltrain will operate a modified schedule for the holiday, while SamTrans will operate on its regular, non-school day schedule.
