San Mateo PAL’s ‘Lights & Sirens’ fundraiser set for Friday, April 23

in A&E/Community

The San Mateo Police Activities League (PAL), which has been extra busy supporting the community during the pandemic, including through virtual programming, tutoring services and food for local families in need, is inviting the community to participate in its upcoming fundraising event, the 23rd Annual Lights & Sirens Awards and Recognition Event.

The event will take place virtually Friday, April 23, at 6 p.m. and will feature special guest appearances, inspirational awards, both live and online auctions, and a raffle wine pull. Tickets start at $50 and can be purchased online. Attendees will receive an at-home party box and can participate in raffle giveaways.

“Every dollar raised will support purposeful, preventative, and educational youth programs from no cost to a minimal fee to our under-served, under-resourced and at-risk PAL members, ages 5-18,” according to PAL.

The PAL is also holding an online auction from April 19-28 “where anyone can bid on great prizes and donate to a good cause,” according to PAL.

“It’s through these fundraisers, we have the resources to ensure San Mateo PAL can be that safe-haven, friendly face, and trusted guardian for our youth, families, and community,” according to PAL. The auction closes on April 28, after which items can be picked up or delivered.”

San Mateo police Chief Ed Barberini added, “It will be a great time. It’s a win-win for everyone. It’s a great donation to PAL, and to our young people and kids in our community who deserve our help, especially during this time. And you get a cool party box. You get to have a toast and a cocktail with a lot of your friends. It’s only an hour out of your weekend. We hope to see you there.”
